Experience the healing therapy of yoga and chair yoga. Our instructor this month is Rick Frank is a certified Kripalu Yoga instructor, who specializes in making yoga accessible to those otherwise unable or uncomfortable to attend typical yoga classes. He has been a licensed Occupational Therapist for 30 years, currently working at Spaulding Rehab in Medford. Rick has taught yoga in a wide variety of settings, including a locked psychiatric unit, a research lab, an assisted living facility, a prison, and a hair salon. Rick has completed specialized training in Adaptive Yoga from Matthew Sanford. At Spaulding, Rick teaches aquatic yoga, as well as "Yoga for the Unfit and Inflexible." In his teaching, Rick places strong emphasis on what he calls "inner practices of yoga." This includes: compassionate self-awareness, attention to breath and sensation, conscious relationship to one's abilities and limitations, and simultaneous balance of effort and relaxation.
